T-shirts Fundraiser

We’re in the planning stages for Clarke’s run next year.  There are so many details to cover and lots to accomplish before the time comes.  Here is some of what we have got on the table for discussion…..

We’ve talked to BluBus and are working on the design for them so they can create some mock-ups.  Once that is done we have to figure out how many countries and how many T-shirts we will need for each.  The plan is to give away one T for every one sold but we are not sure how many to start out with.

We also have to start fundraising in order to cover the initial cost.  Should we us[notranslate]e Kickstarter[/notranslate]?  Or local events?  Should we put the Ts up for sale on eBay, Instagram, etc and advertise that with every one they buy, one T will be given to someone.  How do we decide who gets the free t-shirts?  Charity?  Businesses?  Within the same country as they were purchased or give within another country?

To Donate, or Not To Donate? That is the Question…..

Roth-IRA-Income-Limits-2012 To Donate, or not to donate?  That is a question we ask ourselves more and more these days.  With so many con-artists and the internet making it harder to make people accountable, we need a way to get reliable information about fundraisers and non-profits.  Or just get the full story on someone’s cool new invention we would like to help fund. This is another great way for World Tree to pay it forward.  WTC could provide a way for people to donate to anyone, anywhere. Just think.  You could post an idea about some sort of function and, if you chose, WTC could give you aray to information we have found pertaining  to your post.  Let’s say you like what you find and you would like to support the other group or activity, with regards to what they are doing.  Even if this Leaf Holder does not have donation information provided, WTC will be a conduit so that you may ask if they would be open to a contribution.  Then, you could donate securely through the website. So you would be able to donate to anyone you felt would benefit from the support.  Or you could donate just because you like the idea and want to help it grow. Another function of WTC’s ability to be a conduit for contribution would be the contributor’s ability to check up on what they had contributed to.  Let’s say you have a charity or organization that you heard about and wanted to see if their actions were having beneficial effects in the area they are specializing in.  The Leaf Holder could post questions on our Q & A Board to folks in the region and receive real world information about the organization that they were interested in contributing to. So – donate or not to donate?  Let’s get some answers………..Winnie the pooh

It Begins with an Idea. Take Action!

Do you think before you act?  I know, cliche`.  But do you?  Most of our actions are conscience.  We have a thought, however brief, and then act on it in some way.  I believe this is universal.  We all have ideas.  Big ones.  Little ones.  Some of us are geniuses.  Some of us have tons of common sense.  Others don’t.  We all contribute to the chain of events that are Life.  In all those jumble of ideas there are some truly amazing and some mundane.  I have many of both every day.  Don’t you?

Some people have AMAZING ideas and when implemented change the lives around them for the better.  Even if only in a very small way.  It still counts.  Below are two videos.  One is  by a Group called Life Vest Inside (check them out here).  The other is a commercial that has been circling Facebook about a man in Thailand, inspiring and making people smile. It’s just an insurance commercial.  Or is it?  I think it is the product of someone’s great idea that met with others who shared the same vision.  This is something WTC is meant to provide more of.  A place to help others and be helped.  Make friends.  Teach each other.  There are people out there of every nationality that share the same creative ideas and dreams that you do.  Wouldn’t you love to find a mentor, no matter where they might reside?  Or think of how good it would feel to BE the mentor?

There may be folks out there that don’t feel inspired to help others.  That don’t feel the tug at their heart when they see the smile on a face that, until that moment, had known only sadness.  But for the most part, this world is FILLED with giving people.  We just get carried away with our daily grind.  We get so stressed about what WE are lacking that we forget that there are others with less.  We get swept away in worries.  Then, we see someone have an “Aha!” moment and spend the last bills in their wallet to buy a homeless person a meal.  Or stop in our rush from point A to point B to put a smile on a fussy child’s face.

There are tons of sites on the web with this theme but we find most of them at random, rather than knowing where to look.  What if all those organizations, people with ideas similar to our own, could be found in one place?  What if there was a venue for us to meet and share ideas without having to pay anything?  Even if that person or group was on the opposite end of the Earth?  World Tree Circle is meant to do that.  Help us gather a team of experts on electricity, water, or architectural design from the Renaissance.  Whatever your interest, you can probably find at least one that shares your interests.

We’re looking for some of those people with great ideas to do something similar now.  Help us bring the people of the world together in one “room”.  Think how good each small act of kindness you see or do makes you feel.  Now think how amazing you would feel if you were a part of making World Tree a reality…… Help us plant the seed that will grow in to the biggest, most friendly and comfortable tree with a branch made for each of us to call Home……

scavenger hunt

According to Wikipedia – “A scavenger hunt is a game in which the organizers prepare a list defining specific items, which the participants – individuals or teams – seek to gather all items on the list – usually without purchasing them – or perform tasks or take photographs of the items, as specified.[1] The goal is usually to be the first to complete the list, although in a variation on the game players can also be challenged to complete the tasks on the list in the most creative manner.

According to game scholar Markus Montola, scavenger hunts evolved from ancient folk games.[2] Gossip columnist Elsa Maxwell popularized scavenger hunts in the United States with a series of exclusive New York parties starting in the early 1930s.[3][4][5] The scavenger-hunt craze among New York’s elite was satirized in the 1936 film My Man Godfrey.

Notable scavenger hunts include the University of Chicago Scavenger Hunt and the annual Tricadecathlonomania, a 24-hour worldwide event that began in Northfield, MN.[6] Now in its tenth year, Race/LA and CityRace produce Amazing Race-style scavenger hunts throughout southern California.[7] Scavenger hunts can easily be played either outdoors (around town, parks, back yards, etc.) or indoors (malls, houses, shops, etc.).[8]”

How about we provide a worldwide scavenger hunt in which you will need to communicate with people from other countries to get the correct answers to the clues given? We could provide a forum for people to be able to ask questions and post answers.  It could be possible for people to pose questions to specific countries, regions, or groups of people.   Scavenger hunts are always a great time for all.  Even if you don’t win, everyone usually ends up having a blast.  This one has the potential of being particularly fun because of the inherent challenges as well as getting to meet new organizations and individuals in order to gather the necessary information.  The content should be intriguing real world content that will not only entertain but also provide supplemental knowledge for participants.

support

World Tree Circle (WTC) will provide a social network that includes translation software, video and typed chat and messaging center. We will be a conduit for people to be able to promote through monetary or physical contributions to any idea, event, organization or person that is willing to accept said funds. The purpose is to allow people the opportunity to make informed decisions on the entities that they wish to support and to be able to do this in a secure location with very little hassle. This is a way that people can follow, access, and asks questions about entities that they may want to support so that they may feel that their contribution is having the greatest impact.
